Create a Lasting and Enriching Relationship with a Young Student From Another Country
Host families provide an essential service to our students. They play a large part in ensuring the students have an enjoyable time in the UK in a safe and supportive environment.
UKG maintain a register of host families with whom we place our students when schools are closed for half terms and exeat weekends, or long-term stays for day students. We match our host families and students as closely as possible in terms of the student’s requirements and interests.
All our host families must meet AEGIS standards. UKG host families come in all shapes and sizes, from young families to older couples whose children have left home. We are always looking for new, comfortable, and safe homestays all around the UK, so if you would like to join us as a host family, please complete the form below.
UKG Host Family Application Form
The Next Steps
Following receipt and review of the Application Form, we would like to arrange a meeting with you to tell you more about UKGuardianship and the students under our care. You will be given guidelines and information on the support you will receive.
In the meantime, please read our Homestay Handbook for more information about what is expected of you as a host family.
We require the following documents from host families before we can place any students with you:
- Passport copy of the main host
- Enhanced DBS Certificates (for all persons over 16 years of age living at the premises)*;
- Gas safe certificate issued in the past 12 months
- Safeguarding certificate issued in the last 3 years (we can send you an online safeguarding course to complete if necessary)
*If you are not signed up to the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) update service, we will need to apply for the DBS certificates on your behalf and the fee (approx. £50 per certificate) will be deducted from your first payment. Copies of the following documents will be needed: passport, driving licence, proof of address and National Insurance number.
We will arrange a visit to your house where we will meet the family, have a look around your house and discuss any questions you have about hosting or child safety. We will also check that you have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
You will also be asked to sign a contract and complete a self-declaration and medical declaration form.
